Three years later, Leslie's mother remarried and he was adopted by his new stepfather at which time his name was changed to Gerald Rudolph Ford Jr.
The home burned to the ground in 1971. Photographing a site without the original home is always a challenge. Finding the pictures here was tough at first--the park was nice but uninspiring. Eventually, I tried to make some interesting images of a small display that held a reproduction of the house--something I have not done at other sites.
An hour-and-a-half later and I was back on the road past crops of corn and windmills to my hotel, just East of Des Moines. Tomorrow it is a drive East to Reagan (Tampico, IL) and then Hoover (West Branch, IA).
